Montiget 10mg

Indication

Montiget 10 mg (Montelukast Sodium) is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used for the prophylaxis and long-term treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents 15 years and over, and for the relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.

Direction

Adults and adolescents 15 years and over: one 10 mg tablet once daily in the evening. For asthma, take every day regardless of symptom control. For allergic rhinitis, take as needed or regularly as advised by a physician.

Side effects

• Common: upper respiratory tract infection
• headache
• abdominal pain.
• Uncommon: abnormal dreams
• insomnia
• irritability.
• Rare: serious neuropsychiatric events including suicidal ideation.

Precautions

• Not for acute bronchospasm
• use a rapid
• acting bronchodilator for acute asthma attacks.
• Monitor for neuropsychiatric events (behaviour changes
• depression
• suicidal thinking) — discontinue if these occur.
• Use with caution in patients with phenylketonuria (some formulations contain phenylalanine).
• Do not discontinue or reduce corticosteroid therapy without medical advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
