Indication

Twynsta (Telmisartan 40 mg + Amlodipine 5 mg) is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medicine used for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on either component alone.

Ingredients

• Telmisartan
• Amlodipine

Direction

Adults: one tablet once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water. Do not adjust dose without consulting a physician.

Side effects

• Common: peripheral oedema
• dizziness
• headache.
• Uncommon: hypotension
• flushing
• palpitations.
• Rare: angioedema
• elevated liver enzymes.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in pregnancy (second and third trimesters) — may cause fetal harm.
• Contraindicated in patients with biliary obstructive disorders or severe hepatic impairment.
• Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis or severe renal impairment.
• Monitor blood pressure regularly.
• Avoid potassium supplements or potassium
• sparing diuretics without medical supervision.
• Keep out of reach of children.
