Indication

Utrogestan contains micronised progesterone, a natural progestogen. It is used in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to protect the uterine lining (endometrium) in menopausal women receiving oestrogen therapy. It is also used in infertility treatment (assisted reproductive technology) to support the luteal phase, and in cases of threatened or recurrent miscarriage due to progesterone deficiency.

Ingredients
  • Progesterone
Direction

Dose and schedule depend on the indication and are determined by a doctor. For HRT: typically 200 mg per day (as a single oral or vaginal dose) for 12–14 days per cycle. For luteal support: 200–400 mg daily vaginally in divided doses. Capsules may be taken orally or inserted vaginally as directed. Oral use may cause drowsiness; vaginal administration is preferred to minimise this.
