Indication
Septiderm Incolor is a topical antiseptic solution containing chlorhexidine digluconate, benzalkonium chloride, and benzyl alcohol. It is used for antiseptic cleansing of wounds, cuts, and abrasions, and for skin disinfection before injections or minor surgical procedures. The colourless (incolor) formulation leaves no staining.
Ingredients
- Chlorhexidine digluconate
- Benzalkonium chloride
- Benzyl alcohol
Direction
Apply directly to the wound or skin area using a cotton pad or swab. Allow to dry. For wound care, apply 2–3 times daily or as directed by a healthcare professional. Avoid rinsing the area immediately after application.
Side effects
- Skin irritation or burning at the application site
- Allergic contact dermatitis (rare)
- Rare systemic effects if absorbed through large wounds
Precautions
- Avoid contact with eyes and ears
- do not use in the ear canal.
- Do not use on deep penetrating wounds
- serious burns
- or infected deep wounds without medical advice.
- Do not use in neonates or on large skin areas in premature infants.
- Benzalkonium chloride is incompatible with soap and anionic detergents
- rinse skin thoroughly before applying if these were used.
- Avoid prolonged or extensive use over large body surface areas.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Discontinue if allergic reaction or irritation occurs.
