Indication
Symptomatic relief of common cold and flu: fever, headache, nasal congestion, runny nose and allergic rhinitis.
Ingredients
- Paracetamol
- Phenylephrine HCl
- Chlorpheniramine maleate
Direction
Use as directed by physician.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- sedation (chlorpheniramine).
- Dry mouth
- blurred vision
- urinary retention (anticholinergic effects).
- Nausea
- stomach upset.
- Palpitations
- elevated blood pressure (phenylephrine).
- Headache.
- Insomnia.
- Hepatotoxicity with paracetamol overdose.
Precautions
- Avoid use in patients with severe hypertension or cardiovascular disease (phenylephrine is a sympathomimetic).
- Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism
- diabetes
- glaucoma
- or urinary retention.
- Avoid concurrent use with MAO inhibitors — risk of hypertensive crisis.
- Paracetamol component: do not exceed recommended dose
- avoid in hepatic impairment or with alcohol use.
- Chlorpheniramine causes sedation — avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Use with caution in elderly patients.
- Not recommended in children under 6 years without medical advice.
