Indication

Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus as a combination of glimepiride and metformin hydrochloride when diet, exercise, and monotherapy do not provide adequate glycaemic control.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• especially if meals are skipped.
• Nausea
• vomiting
• and diarrhoea (metformin
• related
• often transient).
• Metallic taste in the mouth.
• Abdominal discomfort.
• Weight gain (glimepiride).
• Lactic acidosis (rare but serious
• associated with metformin — risk increased in renal impairment).
• Allergic skin reactions.
• Elevated liver enzymes (rare).

Precautions

• Store below 30 C.
• Protect from sunlight and moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
