Paracetamol Infusion 1 g / 100 ml

Indication

For the short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain and the treatment of fever in adults and children when oral administration is not possible or appropriate.

Ingredients

• Paracetamol

Direction

Adults (over 50 kg): 1 g (100 mL) by intravenous infusion over 15 minutes, up to 4 times daily; maximum 4 g per day. Children 33–50 kg: 15 mg/kg per infusion, maximum 60 mg/kg/day. Administer under medical supervision.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting.
• Headache.
• Hypotension (with rapid infusion).
• Rare: hepatotoxicity in overdose or high cumulative dose.
• Very rarely: serious allergic reactions (anaphylaxis).
• Elevation of liver enzymes.

Precautions

• For intravenous use only — administer under healthcare professional supervision.
• Do not exceed maximum daily dose of paracetamol from all sources.
• Avoid in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Use with caution in patients with chronic alcoholism
