Clovir-Cream 5%

Indication

Clovir-Cream is a topical antiviral preparation used to treat herpes simplex infections of the lips and face (cold sores) and recurrent herpes labialis. It reduces healing time and severity of outbreaks when applied early.

Ingredients

• Aciclovir 5%

Direction

Apply a small amount to the affected area 5 times daily (approximately every 4 hours) for 5 days. Begin treatment as early as possible at the first sign of a cold sore. Wash hands before and after application.

Side effects

• Transient mild burning or stinging on application
• Dryness or flaking of skin
• Skin rash (rare)

Precautions

• For external use only — avoid contact with eyes
• Not recommended for use on mucous membranes
• Keep out of reach of children
• Immunocompromised patients should use under physician supervision
