Indication
AZIK-250 is a macrolide antibiotic used for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections including community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, acute bacterial sinusitis, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, urethritis and cervicitis.
Ingredients
- Azithromycin 250 mg
Direction
Take orally as prescribed by a physician. Usual adult dose: 500 mg on day 1, then 250 mg once daily for 4 more days (total 1.5g over 5 days). Take at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- Skin rash or allergic reactions
- QT prolongation (rare)
- Abnormal liver function tests
Precautions
- Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment
- May prolong QT interval — use with caution in patients with cardiac conditions
- Keep out of reach of children
- Use only on medical prescription
