Indication
Metoclopramide Injection is used for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and various medical conditions. It is also used to facilitate gastric emptying and intestinal transit in conditions such as gastroparesis and as an adjunct to diagnostic procedures.
Ingredients
- Metoclopramide Hydrochloride 10 mg
Direction
For I.M. or I.V. injection as directed by a physician. Usual adult dose: 10 mg (1 ampoule) up to three times daily. Administer by slow intravenous injection over at least 3 minutes.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- restlessness
- and fatigue may occur.
- Extrapyramidal reactions (dystonia
- akathisia) especially in children and young adults.
- Tardive dyskinesia with long
- term use.
- Hyperprolactinaemia with associated amenorrhoea and galactorrhoea.
Precautions
- Use under medical supervision only.
- Contraindicated in patients with epilepsy
- pheochromocytoma
- gastrointestinal obstruction
- or known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide.
- Not recommended for long
- term use due to risk of tardive dyskinesia.
- Use with caution in elderly patients and in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
- Keep out of reach of children.
