Indication

Treatment and prevention of gout and hyperuricaemia (elevated uric acid levels). Also used for prevention of uric acid nephropathy and uric acid stone formation, and during chemotherapy to prevent tumour lysis syndrome.

• Allopurinol 200 mg

Direction

Swallow tablets whole with a large glass of water, after meals. Take as directed by a physician. Prescription only medicine.

Side effects

• Skin rash (may be serious)
• nausea
• elevated liver enzymes. Severe hypersensitivity reactions rarely possible.

Precautions

• Prescription only medicine. Do not use during pregnancy without medical advice. Hypersensitivity reactions may occur — stop immediately if rash develops. Contains lactose.
