Treviamet 50 mg / 500 mg

Indication

Treviamet (Sitagliptin 50 mg + Metformin HCl 500 mg) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are not adequately controlled on metformin alone, or in those already treated with the combination of sitagliptin and metformin.

Ingredients

• Sitagliptin (as phosphate monohydrate) 50 mg
• Metformin HCl USP 500 mg

Direction

As directed by the physician or see package insert for full prescribing information. Usually taken orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• or diarrhea (more common at start of therapy)
• Stomach upset or abdominal pain
• Nasopharyngitis or upper respiratory tract infection
• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
• especially when combined with other diabetes medications
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any adverse effect occurs

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²)
• Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment
• Discontinue before iodinated contrast imaging procedures
• Monitor renal function regularly
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding without medical advice
• Keep out of reach of children
