Indication
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and erosive oesophagitis - Healing and prevention of relapse of reflux oesophagitis - Eradication of Helicobacter pylori (with antibiotics) - Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
Ingredients
- Esomeprazole 40 mg
Direction
Usual adult dose is one 40 mg tablet once daily, swallowed whole at least one hour before a meal, or as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Headache
- Diarrhoea or constipation
- Abdominal pain and nausea
- Flatulence
- Dry mouth
Precautions
- Rule out malignancy before treatment if alarm symptoms are present
- Long
- term use may reduce magnesium levels and increase fracture risk
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration
- Use caution in severe liver impairment (max 20 mg daily)
