Indication

- Intestinal worm infections (roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, pinworm, threadworm, tapeworm) - Strongyloidiasis - Giardiasis in children - Hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis at higher doses

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg

Direction

For common intestinal worms, adults and children over 2 years usually take a single 400 mg tablet; may be repeated after 2-3 weeks. Higher and prolonged dosing is used for systemic infections as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Abdominal pain and nausea
• Headache and dizziness
• Reversible hair loss
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Rarely
• reduced blood cell counts (bone marrow suppression)

Precautions

• Avoid in pregnancy
• exclude pregnancy before treatment and use effective contraception
• Monitor liver function and blood counts during prolonged high
• dose therapy
• Use with caution in hepatic impairment
• Take with a fatty meal to improve absorption for systemic infections
