Zyloric 200 mg

Indication

Treatment and prevention of gout and hyperuricaemia (elevated uric acid levels). Also used in conditions where elevated uric acid is associated with cancer chemotherapy and in the management of uric acid and calcium oxalate kidney stones.

Ingredients

• Allopurinol 200 mg

Direction

Take as directed by a physician. Swallow whole with water, preferably after meals. Maintain adequate fluid intake (2–3 litres per day). This medicine should be taken under medical surveillance only.

Side effects

• Skin rash (stop and seek medical advice immediately)
• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Drowsiness
• Headache
• Severe hypersensitivity reactions (rare)

Precautions

• Prescription only medicine — take only under medical surveillance
• Stop immediately if skin rash or allergic reaction occurs
• Not recommended during acute gout attack
• wait until attack subsides
• Use with caution in renal and hepatic impairment
• Maintain adequate hydration during treatment
• Do not use during pregnancy without clear medical indication
• Keep out of reach of children
• Store below 25°C away from humidity
