Aldactone 25 mg

Indication

- Heart failure (NYHA Class III-IV) to improve survival - Hypertension (high blood pressure) - Edema associated with cirrhosis, nephrotic syndrome or heart failure - Primary hyperaldosteronism - Hypokalemia (low potassium)

Ingredients

• Spironolactone 25 mg

Direction

Take orally as prescribed, usually once or twice daily with food; dose is individualized by indication. Do not stop without consulting your doctor.

Side effects

• Hyperkalemia
• Gynecomastia and breast tenderness
• Menstrual irregularities or decreased libido
• Dizziness

Precautions

• Risk of hyperkalemia
• monitor serum potassium and renal function
• Avoid potassium supplements and other potassium
• sparing agents unless directed
• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment
• Avoid in pregnancy unless clearly needed (anti
• androgenic effects)
