Indication

Empiget-M is a combination antidiabetic medicine containing Empagliflozin and Metformin HCl, used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both components is appropriate.

Ingredients

• Empagliflozin 12.5 mg
• Metformin HCl 500 mg

Direction

Take as directed by a physician. Usually taken orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhea (from Metformin)
• Urinary tract infections
• Genital mycotic infections
• Hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas
• Stop use and consult a physician if unusual reactions occur.

Precautions

• Prescription medicine — use only under medical supervision.
• Contraindicated in patients with renal impairment or eGFR below the threshold per prescribing guidelines.
• Risk of lactic acidosis associated with Metformin.
• Increased risk of urinary tract and genital infections from Empagliflozin.
