Indication
Empiget-M is a combination antidiabetic medicine containing Empagliflozin and Metformin HCl, used to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both components is appropriate.
Ingredients
- Empagliflozin 12.5 mg
- Metformin HCl 500 mg
Direction
Take as directed by a physician. Usually taken orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhea (from Metformin)
- Urinary tract infections
- Genital mycotic infections
- Hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas
- Stop use and consult a physician if unusual reactions occur.
Precautions
- Prescription medicine — use only under medical supervision.
- Contraindicated in patients with renal impairment or eGFR below the threshold per prescribing guidelines.
- Risk of lactic acidosis associated with Metformin.
- Increased risk of urinary tract and genital infections from Empagliflozin.
