Prosan 50 50 mg

Indication

Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults and children 6 years and older. Also used for reduction of risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

Ingredients

• Losartan Potassium USP 50 mg

Direction

Adults: usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily. Dose may be increased to a maximum of 100 mg once daily. Take with or without food. For diabetic nephropathy: start at 50 mg once daily, increase to 100 mg once daily based on blood pressure response.

Side effects

• Dizziness
• hypotension
• Hyperkalemia (elevated potassium levels)
• Elevated serum creatinine
• Fatigue
• weakness

Precautions

• Do not use during pregnancy
• especially during the 2nd and 3rd trimester.
• Do not use if allergic to losartan or any other angiotensin receptor blocker.
• Monitor blood pressure
• renal function
• and electrolytes regularly.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment or heart failure.
• Consult a doctor before use.
