Glimicron 80 80 mg

Indication

- Type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus - Used when diet, exercise and weight reduction alone are insufficient to control blood glucose

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 80 mg

Direction

Take orally with or just before the first main meal (usually breakfast). Dose is individualised by a physician; do not skip meals while taking this medicine.

Side effects

• Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar)
• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal discomfort
• Weight gain
• Skin rash or itching
• Rarely
• blood disorders or liver enzyme changes

Precautions

• Risk of hypoglycaemia
• especially if meals are skipped or with alcohol
• Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
• diabetic ketoacidosis and severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Use with caution in the elderly and in moderate kidney impairment
• Monitor blood glucose regularly
