Glumin 500 500 mg

Indication

- Type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent), especially in overweight patients - Used alone or with diet and exercise to control blood sugar - May be combined with other antidiabetic agents or insulin

Ingredients

• Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg

Direction

Take orally with or after meals to reduce stomach upset. Usual starting dose is 500 mg once or twice daily, adjusted by a doctor; do not exceed the prescribed maximum.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting and diarrhoea
• Abdominal discomfort and loss of appetite
• Metallic taste
• Vitamin B12 deficiency with long
• term use
• Lactic acidosis (rare but serious)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in moderate to severe renal impairment due to lactic acidosis risk
• Temporarily stop before procedures using iodinated contrast media
• Avoid in acute conditions that may affect kidney function or cause dehydration
• Use with caution with alcohol
• monitor renal function periodically
