Indication
- Hypertension (high blood pressure) - Edema (fluid retention) associated with heart failure, liver or kidney disease - Edema caused by corticosteroid or estrogen therapy
Ingredients
- Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg
Direction
Usually one tablet (25 mg) once daily, taken in the morning, or as directed by a physician. Swallow with water.
Side effects
- Dizziness
- lightheadedness on standing
- Low potassium causing weakness or muscle cramps
- Increased urination
- Elevated blood sugar and uric acid
- Photosensitivity
Precautions
- Monitor for electrolyte imbalance (low potassium
- sodium
- magnesium)
- Use with caution in diabetes
- gout
- kidney or liver impairment
- May cause dizziness
- avoid in pregnancy unless directed
- Can increase blood sugar and uric acid levels
