Indication
- Bulk-forming laxative for constipation - Promotes regular bowel movements - Helps maintain soft, easily passed stools
Ingredients
- Psyllium (ispaghula) husk 5 g per sachet
Direction
Adults: one sachet (5 g) mixed in a full glass of water, 1–3 times daily, followed by extra fluids. Children 6–12 years: half the adult dose.
Side effects
- Bloating and flatulence
- Abdominal discomfort
- Allergic reactions (rare)
- Rarely
- oesophageal or bowel obstruction if taken with insufficient fluid
Precautions
- Always take with plenty of fluid to avoid choking or bowel obstruction
- Do not use in intestinal obstruction or difficulty swallowing
- Separate from other medicines by at least 1–2 hours
- Use with caution in diabetes (check sugar
- free formulation)
