Indication

- Respiratory conditions with thick or excessive mucus - Mucolytic to loosen and thin mucus - Adjunct in chronic bronchitis and other productive coughs

Ingredients

• Acetylcysteine

Direction

Take orally as directed by a doctor, usually with or after food; effervescent forms are dissolved in water before drinking.

Side effects

• Nausea and vomiting
• Diarrhea or stomach upset
• Headache
• Allergic skin reactions (rare)

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer or asthma
• Avoid in known hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine
• Consult a doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding
• Separate dosing from certain antibiotics by 2 hours
