Indication

- Oedema associated with heart failure, liver or kidney disease - Hypertension (high blood pressure) - Fluid retention (oedema) of various causes

Ingredients

• Furosemide 40 mg

Direction

Take by mouth as prescribed, usually 20-80 mg daily; take the dose in the morning to avoid night-time urination. Use the lowest effective dose as directed by a physician.

Side effects

• Increased urination
• Dizziness
• headache or low blood pressure
• Electrolyte imbalance (low potassium
• sodium)
• Dehydration and increased thirst
• Muscle cramps

Precautions

• Monitor blood pressure
• fluid balance and electrolytes (especially potassium) during treatment
• Use with caution in the elderly
• diabetes
• gout
• and kidney or liver impairment
• May cause dizziness
• rise slowly from sitting or lying to reduce the risk of low blood pressure
