Indication
- Oedema associated with heart failure, liver or kidney disease - Hypertension (high blood pressure) - Fluid retention (oedema) of various causes
Ingredients
- Furosemide 40 mg
Direction
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually 20-80 mg daily; take the dose in the morning to avoid night-time urination. Use the lowest effective dose as directed by a physician.
Side effects
- Increased urination
- Dizziness
- headache or low blood pressure
- Electrolyte imbalance (low potassium
- sodium)
- Dehydration and increased thirst
- Muscle cramps
Precautions
- Monitor blood pressure
- fluid balance and electrolytes (especially potassium) during treatment
- Use with caution in the elderly
- diabetes
- gout
- and kidney or liver impairment
- May cause dizziness
- rise slowly from sitting or lying to reduce the risk of low blood pressure
