Indication
Used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, to improve blood glucose control.
Ingredients
- Pioglitazone 30 mg
Direction
Take once daily as directed by the physician, with or without food. Dosage is individualized based on glycaemic response.
Side effects
- Weight gain
- Oedema (fluid retention)
- Upper respiratory tract infection
- Headache
- Risk of heart failure in susceptible patients
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with heart failure or liver disease
- Monitor liver enzymes periodically
- May increase risk of bladder cancer with long
- term use
- Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
- Use with caution in pre
- menopausal anovulatory women — may cause ovulation resumption
- Store below 30°C
- protect from sunlight and moisture
