Pioglite 30 mg

Indication

Used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents, to improve blood glucose control.

Ingredients

• Pioglitazone 30 mg

Direction

Take once daily as directed by the physician, with or without food. Dosage is individualized based on glycaemic response.

Side effects

• Weight gain
• Oedema (fluid retention)
• Upper respiratory tract infection
• Headache
• Risk of heart failure in susceptible patients

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with heart failure or liver disease
• Monitor liver enzymes periodically
• May increase risk of bladder cancer with long
• term use
• Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis
• Use with caution in pre
• menopausal anovulatory women — may cause ovulation resumption
• Store below 30°C
