Omeprazole GPO 20 mg

Indication

Omeprazole GPO is an antiulcerant (proton pump inhibitor) indicated for treatment of duodenal ulcer (1 cap morning for 2-4 weeks), gastric ulcer and reflux oesophagitis (1 cap morning for 4-8 weeks), and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (initially 60 mg once daily or as directed by the physician). Patients refractory to other regimens may receive 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks (duodenal ulcer) or 8 weeks (gastric ulcer).

Direction

Oral route. Duodenal ulcer: 1 capsule in the morning for 2-4 weeks. Gastric ulcer and reflux oesophagitis: 1 capsule in the morning for 4-8 weeks. Patients refractory: 40 mg once daily.

Precautions

• Safety and efficacy in children younger than 2 years of age have not been established
• When gastric ulcer is suspected
• the possibility of malignancy should be excluded as treatment may alleviate symptom and delay diagnosis
