Indication
- Obtaining a small capillary blood sample by skin puncture - Used with a lancing device for blood glucose self-monitoring - Fingerstick sampling for other point-of-care blood tests

Direction
Insert the sterile single-use lancet into a compatible lancing device, clean the fingertip, prick the side of the finger, collect the blood drop for testing, then discard the lancet safely in a sharps container.
Side effects
- Pain or discomfort at the puncture site
- Minor bruising or bleeding
- Local infection if reused or aseptic technique is not maintained
Precautions
- For single use only
- never reuse or share lancets between people
- Do not use if the sterile seal is broken or past expiry
- Dispose of immediately in a puncture
