Indication
- Respiratory tract infections (e.g. bronchitis, pharyngitis) - Otitis media - Urinary tract infections - Typhoid fever
Ingredients
- Cefixime 200 mg/5 mL
Direction
Reconstitute and take by mouth as directed, with the dose based on the child's body weight. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Diarrhea and abdominal pain
- Nausea
- Allergic reactions (rash
- itching)
- Rarely
- severe hypersensitivity reactions
Precautions
- Avoid in known allergy to cephalosporins or penicillins
- Use with caution in kidney impairment
- Prolonged use may cause superinfection or antibiotic
- associated diarrhea
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve
