Indication
- Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhea - Symptomatic treatment of chronic diarrhea - Reduction of stool frequency in ileostomy patients
Ingredients
- Loperamide hydrochloride 2 mg
Direction
Adults: initially 2 capsules (4 mg), then 1 capsule (2 mg) after each loose stool; do not exceed 8 mg/day for acute diarrhea (16 mg/day under medical supervision).
Side effects
- Constipation
- Abdominal cramps or bloating
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
Precautions
- Do not use in acute dysentery (blood in stool with fever)
- Avoid in children under 6 years
- Stop and seek care if no improvement within 48 hours
- Maintain adequate fluid and electrolyte intake
