Indication
- Bacterial respiratory-tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia) - Urinary-tract infections - Skin and soft-tissue infections - Dental and bone/joint infections caused by susceptible bacteria
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin 500 mg + clavulanic acid 125 mg (co
- amoxiclav 625 mg)
Direction
Usual adult dose is one 625 mg tablet every 8 hours (three times daily); take at the start of a meal. Complete the full course as prescribed.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- nausea
- vomiting
- Skin rash or itching
- Vaginal or oral thrush (candidiasis)
- Rarely
- allergic reactions and reversible liver enzyme changes
Precautions
- Do not use in patients allergic to penicillins or with a history of co
- amoxiclav
- associated jaundice/liver problems
- Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment
- May cause diarrhoea
- report severe or persistent diarrhoea (risk of C. difficile colitis)
- Tell your doctor about other medicines
- especially allopurinol and oral anticoagulants
