Indication

- Bacterial respiratory-tract infections (sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, pneumonia) - Urinary-tract infections - Skin and soft-tissue infections - Dental and bone/joint infections caused by susceptible bacteria

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg + clavulanic acid 125 mg (co
• amoxiclav 625 mg)

Direction

Usual adult dose is one 625 mg tablet every 8 hours (three times daily); take at the start of a meal. Complete the full course as prescribed.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting
• Skin rash or itching
• Vaginal or oral thrush (candidiasis)
• Rarely
• allergic reactions and reversible liver enzyme changes

Precautions

• Do not use in patients allergic to penicillins or with a history of co
• amoxiclav
• associated jaundice/liver problems
• Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment
• May cause diarrhoea
• report severe or persistent diarrhoea (risk of C. difficile colitis)
• Tell your doctor about other medicines
• especially allopurinol and oral anticoagulants
