Atarax 25mg

Indication

- Symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension - Pruritus (itching) due to allergic conditions such as urticaria - Sedative premedication before surgery

Ingredients

• Hydroxyzine hydrochloride 25 mg

Direction

Adults: usually 25 mg three to four times daily for itching, or 50-100 mg daily for anxiety, taken with water; use the lowest effective dose. Dose is adjusted by body weight in children.

Side effects

• Drowsiness and sedation
• Dry mouth
• Headache
• Fatigue
• QT prolongation (rare)

Precautions

• Causes drowsiness
• avoid driving or operating machinery
• Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants
• Contraindicated with prolonged QT interval or risk factors for QT prolongation
• Use with caution in the elderly and in liver or kidney impairment
