Indication
For treatment of Herpes simplex virus infections of the skin, including initial and recurrent genital herpes and herpes labialis (cold sores).
Ingredients
- Aciclovir 5% w/w
Direction
Apply locally to the affected area every 4 hours, or 5 times daily omitting the night-time dose, for 5 days continuously. Treatment may be continued for up to 10 days. Should be used as early as possible after the start of an infection.
Side effects
- Transient mild burning or stinging at the site of application.
- Mild drying or flaking of the skin.
- Itching
- erythema
- or contact dermatitis in rare cases.
- If severe irritation or an allergic reaction occurs
- stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to Aciclovir or Propylene Glycol.
- Should not be applied to mucous membranes such as the mouth
- eyes
- or vagina.
- Take particular care to avoid accidental introduction into the eyes.
- For external use only. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.
