Indication
Lowers high uric acid levels in the blood. Used for the long-term management of chronic hyperuricaemia in conditions such as gout where urate deposition has already occurred.
Ingredients
- Febuxostat
Direction
As directed by the physician. Take 1 tablet once a day. The dosage may be increased up to 2 tablets a day if required. Do not take more than 2 tablets in 24 hours.
Side effects
- May cause headache
- nausea
- diarrhoea
- abnormal liver function tests
- gout flare or rash.
- Stop the medicine and contact a doctor immediately if a severe skin rash
- swelling of the face or throat
- difficulty breathing or signs of liver injury occur.
Precautions
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- especially if you have liver
- kidney
- heart or thyroid disease
- or a history of allergy to febuxostat.
- Inform your doctor of all medicines you take
- including allopurinol
- mercaptopurine and azathioprine.
- Stop use and seek medical advice if a skin rash
- severe allergic reaction
- chest pain or signs of liver problems occur.
