Indication
Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, particularly in overweight patients, when dietary management and exercise alone do not result in adequate glycaemic control.
Ingredients
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
Take orally as directed by the physician, usually with or after meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects.
Side effects
- May cause gastrointestinal upset (nausea
- diarrhoea
- abdominal pain)
- metallic taste
- decreased appetite
- or vitamin B12 deficiency on long
- term use.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any reaction is severe or persistent.
Precautions
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- especially in kidney or liver impairment
- heart failure
- severe infection
- dehydration or before contrast imaging.
- Avoid excessive alcohol intake while taking this medicine due to the risk of lactic acidosis.
- Stop use and seek medical advice immediately if severe nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal pain
- muscle pain
- difficulty breathing or unusual weakness occurs.
