Indication
Treatment of anaerobic bacterial and protozoal infections including amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, dental and intra-abdominal infections, and as prophylaxis for anaerobic infections in surgery.
Ingredients
- Metronidazole 500 mg per tablet
Direction
Oral route. Dosage as directed by the physician.
Side effects
- Nausea
- vomiting
- metallic taste
- abdominal discomfort.
- Headache
- dizziness.
- Dark or reddish urine.
- Skin rash
- pruritus.
- Peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use
- stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if a reaction occurs.
Precautions
- Only on medical prescription. Comply with the prescribed doses.
- Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitroimidazoles.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after stopping (disulfiram
- like reaction).
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment
- blood dyscrasias
- or CNS disorders.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- especially during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- and stop if irritation or allergy occurs.
