Indication
Adjunct treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients whose hyperglycaemia is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and either glimepiride or metformin alone.
Ingredients
- Glimepiride
- Metformin Hydrochloride
Direction
As directed by the physician. Take with meals to reduce gastrointestinal upset and the risk of hypoglycaemia. Refer to the package insert for full dosing.
Side effects
- May cause hypoglycaemia
- gastrointestinal upset (nausea
- diarrhoea
- abdominal pain)
- metallic taste
- weight gain
- or skin rash.
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist if any reaction is severe or persistent.
Precautions
- Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
- especially in kidney or liver impairment
- heart failure
- severe infection
- dehydration or before contrast imaging.
- Be aware of the symptoms of hypoglycaemia (sweating
- shakiness
- confusion) and how to manage them
- avoid alcohol due to risk of lactic acidosis and severe low blood sugar.
- Stop use and seek medical advice immediately if severe abdominal pain
- vomiting
- muscle pain
- difficulty breathing
- unusual weakness or any allergic reaction occurs.
