Simvastatin

Direction

As directed by the physician. Usually one tablet once daily in the evening, with or without food.

Side effects

May cause headache
abdominal pain
constipation
nausea
muscle pain or abnormal liver enzymes.
Seek immediate medical advice if severe muscle pain
signs of liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes)
or allergic reactions occur.

Precautions

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use
especially if you have liver disease
kidney impairment
hypothyroidism
or a history of muscle disorders.
Avoid grapefruit juice and tell your doctor about all medicines you take
including amiodarone
fibrates
certain antibiotics
antifungals and HIV protease inhibitors.
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Stop use and contact your doctor if unexplained muscle pain
tenderness or weakness occurs
particularly with fever or dark
coloured urine.
