Indication

Used in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and adolescents and for chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in adults.

Side effects

• May cause headache
• nausea
• diarrhea
• fatigue
• and abnormal liver enzymes.
• Some users may experience changes in body fat
• kidney function abnormalities
• or bone density loss.
• Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if severe abdominal pain
• signs of liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes)
• or allergic reactions occur.

Precautions

• Use only under medical supervision
• HIV resistance testing should guide therapy.
• Inform your doctor about any kidney
• liver
• or bone problems before starting treatment.
• Do not stop the medicine without consulting your doctor
• as this may cause flare
• up of hepatitis B.
