Indication
Used for the treatment and prophylaxis of acute gout attacks and other crystal-related arthropathies.
Ingredients
- Colchicine
Direction
1 mg immediately, followed by 0.5 mg (half tablet) every 2 hours until pain is relieved or vomiting and diarrhea intervene. Maximum dosage of 6 mg daily. Refer to package insert for indication, contraindications, administration and side effects.
Side effects
- May cause nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal pain
- or diarrhea
- which are early signs of overdose and should prompt dose reduction.
- Stop use and seek urgent medical care if severe diarrhea
- muscle weakness
- unusual bleeding
- severe allergic reaction
- or other serious symptoms occur.
Precautions
- For use under prescription only.
- Do not exceed the maximum dose of 6 mg per acute attack and observe a minimum interval before repeat courses.
- Use with caution in elderly patients and those with renal
- hepatic
- gastrointestinal
- or cardiac disease.
- Avoid in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment unless under specialist supervision.
- Avoid concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 or P
- glycoprotein inhibitors (e.g. clarithromycin
- ketoconazole) without medical advice.
- Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- Keep out of reach of children.
