Indication

Treatment of infections caused by Varicella-Zoster virus and Herpes Simplex virus. Skin and mucous membrane infections due to Herpes Simplex virus. Prophylaxis of Herpes Simplex infections in immunocompromised patients including those with bone marrow transplant and leukaemia. Suppression of recurrent Herpes Simplex virus infections.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• headache or fatigue may occur.
• Rash
• photosensitivity
• and renal dysfunction have been reported.
• Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if severe rash
• irritation
• or any unusual symptom develops.

Precautions

• Do not use if hypersensitive to acyclovir or valacyclovir.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment or dehydration.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Stop use and seek medical advice if irritation or allergic reaction occurs.
