Indication

Saline enema for the relief of occasional constipation. Used to soften stool and stimulate evacuation, including in pediatric use under guidance.

Ingredients

• Sodium chloride

Direction

For rectal use only. Remove cap and gently insert the nozzle into the rectum. Squeeze the bottle to expel the contents, then withdraw. Use as directed by a doctor or pharmacist, or as labeled. Do not exceed the recommended dose.

Side effects

• May cause local rectal irritation
• mild cramping
• or transient electrolyte disturbance with repeated use. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if irritation
• persistent discomfort
• or allergy occurs.

Precautions

• For rectal use only. Do not use in the presence of nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain
• or undiagnosed rectal bleeding. Do not use in patients with intestinal obstruction or known sensitivity to ingredients. Use with caution in infants
• young children
• and the elderly — consult a doctor or pharmacist before use. Stop use if irritation or allergy occurs.
