Indication
Potent antiulcer / antacid agent. Relieves burning, discomfort and stomachache associated with hyperacidity, acid reflux (gastro-oesophageal reflux), gastritis, peptic ulcers and dyspepsia.
Ingredients
- Colloidal aluminium phosphate 20% w/w (~12.38 g per 20 g sachet)
Direction
Adults: take 1 sachet 2–3 times daily, preferably 30 minutes before meals or as symptoms occur, or as directed by a doctor. Knead the sachet before use and squeeze the contents directly into the mouth or stir into a small amount of water.
Side effects
- May cause constipation
- especially with prolonged use.
- Rarely may cause hypophosphataemia or interact with other medicines (see precautions).
- Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if any abnormal symptom occurs.
Precautions
- Do not exceed the recommended dose unless directed by a doctor.
- Long
- term use may interfere with phosphate absorption — consult a doctor before prolonged use
- especially in patients with chronic kidney disease.
- Aluminium
- containing antacids may bind certain medicines (e.g. tetracyclines
- fluoroquinolones
- iron
- levothyroxine) — separate doses by at least 2 hours.
- Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only after consulting a doctor.
- If symptoms persist for more than 7 days or worsen
- consult a doctor or pharmacist.
