Augmentin 500 mg / 125 mg

Indication

Broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor. Used to treat bacterial infections of the respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissue, and dental infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate)
• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate)

Direction

Oral use. To be used as directed by your physician. Swallow tablets whole with water; usually taken with a meal to reduce gastrointestinal upset.

Side effects

• May cause diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting
• rash
• or oral/vaginal candidiasis. Seek immediate medical advice if you experience severe allergic reactions
• persistent diarrhoea
• or jaundice. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to penicillins or beta
• lactam antibiotics. Inform your doctor about liver disease
• kidney impairment
• mononucleosis
