Indication
Antiviral agent used in the treatment of infections caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2) including genital herpes and herpes labialis, and varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox and herpes zoster/shingles).
Ingredients
- Acyclovir
Direction
Oral use. To be used as directed by your physician. Refer to the enclosed leaflet for posology — see leaflet. Maintain adequate hydration during therapy.
Side effects
- May cause nausea
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- headache
- dizziness
- rash
- or photosensitivity. Seek medical advice if you experience severe skin reactions
- kidney problems
- or unusual fatigue. Always consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
Precautions
- On medical prescription only. Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
- dehydration
- or elderly. Inform your doctor about pregnancy/breastfeeding. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
