Indication
Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to amoxicillin + clavulanic acid, including acute bacterial sinusitis, acute otitis media, exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and dental infections.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate)
- Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate)
Direction
Oral use. Twice daily dosing as directed by the physician. Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with a glass of water at the beginning of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Use tablets within 14 days of opening. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- May cause diarrhoea
- nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal pain
- candidiasis
- skin rash. Rarely: severe allergic reaction
- liver problems
- Stevens
- Johnson syndrome. Always ask a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop and seek immediate advice if severe allergic reaction or persistent diarrhoea occurs.
Precautions
- Prescription only (Rx). Do not use if allergic to penicillins
- cephalosporins
- or any excipient. Inform your doctor of any history of allergy
- liver disease
- kidney disease
- mononucleosis
- or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use.
