Indication
Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to moxifloxacin, including acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community-acquired pneumonia, and complicated skin and skin structure infections.
Ingredients
- Moxifloxacin (as moxifloxacin hydrochloride)
Direction
Oral use. As directed by the physician or see package insert for full prescribing information. Usually one tablet (400 mg) once daily. Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with a glass of water. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- May cause nausea
- diarrhoea
- headache
- dizziness
- rash
- tendinitis
- QT
- interval prolongation. Always ask a doctor or pharmacist before use and stop and seek immediate advice if severe allergic reaction
- tendon pain
- palpitations
- or unusual symptoms occur.
Precautions
- Prescription only (Rx). Do not use if allergic to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolones. Fluoroquinolones are associated with an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture
- peripheral neuropathy
- and CNS effects in all ages. Avoid prolonged sun exposure. Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use
- especially in case of QT
- interval issues
- seizure disorders
- or kidney problems.
