Metro-MS 500 500 mg

Indication

Antibacterial and antiparasitic agent for treatment of amoebiasis, trichomoniasis, giardiasis, and anaerobic bacterial infections (Clostridium perfringens, Bacteroides fragilis).

Ingredients

• Metronidazole

Direction

Oral route. Acute amoebiasis: Adult 2 g single dose at start of meal; Child 30 mg/kg single dose for 1 day. Asymptomatic amoebiasis: same dose daily for 3 days. Hepatic amoebiasis: Adult 1.5 g/day in 1-3 divided doses at meals for 5 days.

Side effects

• May cause nausea
• metallic taste
• headache
• dizziness
• or dark urine. Seek medical advice if severe or persistent side effects occur.

Precautions

• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 48 hours after. Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
