Indication

Treatment of severe nodulocystic acne unresponsive to conventional therapy including systemic antibiotics.

Side effects

Common: dry skin
lips and eyes
cheilitis
photosensitivity
raised liver enzymes and lipids
muscle and joint pain. Serious: severe birth defects
mood changes
intracranial hypertension. Stop use and consult a doctor or pharmacist if severe or unusual effects occur.

Precautions

Prescription drug — do not use during pregnancy or in women who may become pregnant (teratogenic). Avoid donating blood during and for 1 month after treatment. Avoid concurrent use of vitamin A supplements and tetracyclines. Consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
